Auxiliary Services Exemptions Committee

I. Purpose
- Purpose - to accomplish the responsibilities as stated below regarding the exemption of certain auxiliary services for students.
- Responsibilities:
- to review university policy and procedures in relation to the Rules of the Board of Supervisors for State Colleges and Universities;
- to provide recommendations regarding the university's implementation and enforcement of the parietal rules of the Rules of the Board of Supervisors for State Colleges and Universities;
- to serve as the reviewing committee for an application for exemption from any auxiliary services that is mandated for enrolled students.
II. Membership and Quorum
The members of the committee shall be appointed annually by the Dean of Students.

- Representative from Student Services
- Faculty
- Representative at large from Student Affairs
- Representative at Large from Enrollment Management
- Representative from External Affairs
- Advisory membership (non-voting):
- Committee Coordinator - Director of Auxiliary Services, or designee
- Advisory members - Dean of Students
- Campus Living Villages Representative
III. Operational Plan
- The Director of Auxiliary Services or designee shall receive and review all of the applications for exemption from any auxiliary service mandated for enrolled students. The applications that meet the following criteria will receive approval from the Director of Auxiliary Services or designee and will not require committee review:
- Military Veteran
- Age - 21 years or older by the fourteenth (14th) day of enrollment for the semester the student is applying for exemption
- Participation in respective program for 6 semesters or more
- Married, divorced or in guardianship for a dependent child
- Classified as a Senior
- Commuting from home
- Classified as a Senior with at least 90 earned hours
The applications that will not receive approval from the Director of Auxiliary Services or designee and that require committee review are as follows:
- Not clearly meeting at least one of the above requirements (1-7)
- Financial Hardship
- Other Hardship
Signing a lease does not exempt student from Housing policy. Any student that has already signed a lease with University Place or University Columns must first contact CLV management regarding cancellation of that lease PRIOR TO submitting an exemption for off campus residency.
- Meeting Procedures
- A minimum of three (3) of the five (5) voting members will constitute a quorum. A quorum must be present to conduct routine business and/or vote on the status of an application for exemption from any auxiliary service.
- The Auxiliary Services Exemption Committee will meet a minimum of once a semester, at the recommendation of the Committee Coordinator, or at the request of the Director of Student Services or Dean of Students.
- The Committee Coordinator shall compile all applications for exemption and supporting documentation for review by the Committee. It shall be the responsibility of the Committee Coordinator to inform the applicant of the decision of the Committee. The Committee Coordinator shall be responsible for recording and maintaining minutes of the meetings

- The Committee Coordinator will serve on the Student life Committee and briefly report on committee actions and recommendations.
